Mr. Giovanni Guagliardo is quickly establishing himself as an important young baritone to watch. Upcoming engagements for Mr.Guagliardo include: Lescaut in Palermo, Sulpice in Rome at the Teatro dell’ Opera, Schaunard in Torre del Lago, Bacocco in Il Giocatore, Belcore in Catania, Marcello in Wichita, Kansas, and Yamadori at La Scala.
Mr. Guagliardo will make his Opera Orchestra debut in the role of Gualtiero in Puccini’s “Edgar” in April at Carnegie Hall. Also in April, Mr. Guagliardo will join Marcello Giordani in recital with the Vero Beach Opera in Florida.
He has won awards from the Puccini Foundation, Voice Academy of the Arena di Verona theater and at the Teatro Massimo di Bellini in Catania.
Past performances include a world premiere of Salieri’s “Il Ricco d’un Giorno” at the Arena di Verona. Giovanni sang the role of Berto in this production directed by Gilbert Deflo; Fiorello in Mantova and in Piacenza, Jake Wallace in La Fanciulla del West in Tuscany; Masetto in Don Giovanni in Catania and Schaunard in Mexico.
Last summer he was invited by Placido Domingo to sing in the “Le Donne di Puccini” concert in Tuscany.
Mr. Guagliardo studies with Bill Schuman in New York City.
