Italian bass Dario Russo will make his debut in 2011 at Teatro Regio di Torino, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. He will also appear in Torino in La Traviata (Dottore) directed by Laurent Pelly and Tosca (Angelotti) under M° Noseda.
In 2010, he debuted in the role of Wagner in Gounod’s Faust at the Teatro Massimo Vincenzo Bellini of Catania. In the fall of that same year, Mr. Russo made his Teatro Reggio di Parma debut in the role of Lord Bethune in I Vespri Siciliani alongside Nucci, Dessi, and F.Armiliato directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi which was recorded for DVD release. He then performed the role of the Bonze in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro di Jesi, Fermo and Brindisi.
In 2009, he sang Hans Foltz in Die Meistersinger von Nuremberg and Don Fernando in Fidelio at the Gran Teatre Liceu of Barcelona. Also that same year, Dario Russo sang Monterone in Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Obidos Opera Festival in Portugal.
In 2008 Dario Russo made his debut at the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genova in the role of Lorenzo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi directed by Robert Carsen and conducted by Donato Renzetti. Also in 2008, he sang Banquo in Verdi’s Macbeth at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Zaccaria in a production of Nabucco in Dordrecht at the Kunstmin Schouwburg.
In 2007 Dario Russo performed the role of the Commendatore in Don Giovanni for the Schattdecor in Rosenheim, Alessio in La Sonnambula as part of the of the Teatro Bellini of Catania tour of Japan, and as Orosmane in Zaira of Bellini.
Mr. Russo has performed extensively in concert, with performances including Puccini’s Messa di Gloria at the Oosterport of Groningen with the Noord Nederlands Orkest, Verdi’s Requiem at the Muziekcentrum Frits Philips of Eindhoven, the Gran Teatre Liceu of Barcelona in a recital for the centenary celebration of the death of Isaac Albeniz, in Die Erste Walpurgisnacht of Mendelssohn, in Colombo of Gomes (performed for the first time in Europe, recorded for the recording company Bongiovanni of Bologna) with the Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo V. Bellini of Catania, an Opera Gala at the Auditorium Principe Felipe with the Opera of Oviedo, in Handel’s Coronation Anthems at the Grote Kerk of den Haag, the Petite Messe Solennelle of Rossini and in the Mozart’s Requiem on the occasion of the Festival Barocco della Val di Noto.
After graduating in Russian and German Languages and Literatures, Mr. Russo began his vocal studies with M° Nicola Luisotti and attended various master classes with Simone Alaimo, Brian Masuda, the baritone Carmelo Corrado Caruso and Bill Schuman.
In 2008/2009 Dario Russo was a member of the Opera Studio Nederland of Amsterdam.
