Simeon Esper

American Tenor Simeon Esper has quickly established himself as a sought-after artist in both the United States and Europe. Guest appearances in the 2010/11 season include the role of Sam Kaplan in a new production of Weill’s STREET SCENE at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden, Pedrillo in DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Weill’s SEVEN DEADLY SINS at the Theater an der Wien, ein Junge Seemann/Ein Hirt in TRISTAN UND ISOLDE with Seattle Opera and ein Wirt in DER ROSENKAVALIER with San Diego Opera. Highlights of the 2011/12 season will include Flamand in Strauss’ CAPRICCIO and Oronte in ALCINA in Dresden, a return to San Diego Opera in SALOME and a debut as Spoletta in TOSCA with the Operá National de Paris.

Highlights of recent seasons include Grigori in BORIS GODUNOV at the Semperoper, Valzacchi in DER ROSENKAVALIER in Cologne, Mr. Upfold in ALBERT HERRING at the Paris Operá Comique and Billy in Weill’s MAHAGONNY SONGSPIEL at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. Esper’s expanding repertoire of roles also includes Der Steuermann in Wagner’s DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER, David in DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG, Loge in DAS RHEINGOLD, Vašek in THE BARTERED BRIDE and Beppe in PAGLIACCI. Concert appearances include Mendelssohn’s ELIAS with the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, Bach’s WEIHNACHTSORATORIUM and Stravinsky’s LES NOCES with the Bielefeld Philharmonic, Offenbach’s TRAFALGAR at the Offenbach Festival Bad Ems, and Orff’s CATULLI CARMINA at the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin. Mr. Esper is a graduate of Florida State University’s Opera Performance Program, and is a 2007 Stipendiate of the Bielefeld Wagner Society
