Soprano Irina Iordachescu was born in Bucharest, in a family of musicians.
In 2000 she graduated the Academy of Music in Bucharest, at the singing class of professor Maria Slatinaru Nistor and the lieder-oratorio class of professor Dan Iordachescu.
Starting with 1997 she has been a laureate of national singing competitions, such as “Mihail Jora” - Second Prize and “Ionel Perlea” - Grand Prize.
She is also a laureate of international singing competitions such as “G.B. Viotti” - Italia - Prize “Cesare Bardelli”; “Silvia Geszty” - Spain - Third Prize; “Maria Callas” - Greece - Third Prize; “Vincenzo Bellini” - Italy - Second Prize; “IVC s’Hertogenbosch” - Holland -Third Prize and the Prize of the Public.
The year 2000 has brought the debut of soprano Irina Iordachescu on the stage of the Bucharest National Opera, in the role of Pamina from W.A. Mozart’s “Die Zauberflote”, and in 2001 she made her international debut on the stage of the “Dante Alighieri” Theatre in Ravenna, in the role of Giulietta from “I Capuleti e I Montecchi ” by Vincenzo Bellini, in the Musical Festival of Ravenna, Italy.
Also in 2001 she was invited to sing in two vocal-symphonic concerts on the stage of the “Teatro alla Scala” from Milan, Italy, under the musical direction of Maestro RICCARDO MUTI, with the Orchestra and the Choir of “La Scala”.
In the same concerts, she has also sung in the ” Tourneo nei paesi dell’Est ” (Armenia, Turkey and Polland) of the Orchestra and Choir of ” La Scala “, under the musical direction of Maestro Riccardo Muti.
In september 2007, Irina Iordachescu has had her opera debut on the scene of “TEATRO ALLA SCALA” from Milan, in one of the main roles, the one of Zeyno Kari from ” Teneke ” by Fabio Vacchi – an opera written by the italian composer especially to be represented on the stage of Teatro alla Scala.
The international premiere, with a modern and magnificent staging achieved by director Ermanno Olmi and scenographer Arnaldo Pomodoro, was conducted by Maestro Roberto Abbado.
In november 2007, in Las Palmas and Ravenna, soprano Irina Iordachescu sang the role of Irene from ‘Il ritorno di Don Calandrino’ by Domenico Cimarosa, an opera recently discovered by Maestro Riccardo Muti. The opera has seen its international premiere in the spring of 2007, in Salzburg, and Maestro Riccardo Muti has taken the production on tour – with Las Palmas (Teatro PEREZ GALDOS ) as the starting point, and Ravenna, Pisa and Piacenza following in December 2007.
Since 2005 soprano Irina Iordachescu has been a soloist of the Bucharest National Opera, on whose stage she has rendered high class interpretations of the roles Lucia from Lucia di Lammermoor by G. Donizetti, Gilda from Rigoletto by G. Verdi, Norina from Don Pasquale by G. Donizetti, Domizia from Decebalo by L. Leo, Fiordiligi from Cosi fan tutte, Pamina from Die Zauberflote, Susanna from Le nozze di Figaro by W.A. Mozart , Musetta from La Boheme by G. Puccini, Valencienne from Die Lustige Witwe by F.Lehar, Violetta Valery from ” La Traviata ” by G. Verdi etc.
In Jan. 2006 she made her debut in the Premiera of “Cosi fan tutte” by W.A.Mozart, at the National Opera in Bucharest, in the role of Fiordiligi.
Soprano Irina Iordachescu is also engaged in a rich concertistic activity, carried out in cameral recitals and concerts with vocal-symphonic works of great breadth, such as Mozart’s “Exultate, jubilate”, “Requiem” and the “C - minor messe”, Beethoven’s “Missa Solemnis” and “The Ninth Symphony”, Haydn’s “Nelson Messe”, Brahms’s “German Requiem”, Dvorak’s “Requiem”, G.Rossini’s “Stabat Mater”, together with prestigious Romanian orchestras, such as the “George Enescu Philarmonic Orchestra” and the “National Radio Orchestra” in Bucharest, the “Banatul Philarmonic Orchestra” in Timisoara,”Oltenia” from Craiova “, “Black Sea” from Constanta, Transilvania State Philarmonic from Cluj, the State Philarmonics from Sibiu, Arad, Tirgu Mures and Oradea, and from abroad: the Symphonic Orchestra from Mulhouse (France), “L’Estro Armonico” from Luxembourg, Orchestra Clasica “Ciudad de Murcia” (Spain), the State Philarmonic Orchestra from Salonic (Greece), the ” Veneta” Philarmonic Orchestra and Orchestra Filarmonica di Teatro ” V.Bellini ” di Catania from Italy and the “Brabants Orchestra” from Holland.
OUTSIDE ROMANIA ( in chronological time of the events) she has performed under the musical direction of great musical directors such as Maestro Riccardo Muti, Julian Kovatchef, Cyril Diederich, Roberto Abbado, Marco Boemi, Sainz Alfaro, Paul Nadler, Christian Schulz, Koen Schoots, Amaury du Closel, Michele Santorsola, Claire Gibault, Ivan Anguelov, Julian Kovatchef, Daffydd Bullock, Neil Thomson, Nicolas Astrinidis, Christoph Adt, Milen Nachev, Nayden Todorov, Nino Manuli, Wolfgang Groehs, Urs Schneider, Konrad von Abel in Opera and Oratorio repertoire and with great stage directors such as Ermanno Olmi, at Teatro alla Scala, Plamen Kartaloff ( she performed in TURANDOT production made by Maestro Plamen Kartaloff, at Sofia Opera) , Renzo Giacchieri, Cristina Muti, Ruggero Cappuccio.
IN ROMANIA in the Oratorio repertoire she has performed, in the chronological order of the events, under the musical direction of great musical directors as Maestro Cristian Mandeal, Camil Marinescu, Gheorghe Costin, Florentin Mihaescu, Horia Andreescu, Sainz Alfaro, Rasvan Cernat, Ilarion I.Galati, Acel Ervin, Iosif Prunner, Nicolae Moldoveanu, Christian Badea and in the Opera repertoire with Maestro Iurie Florea, Cornel Trailescu, Adrian Morar, Lucian Anca, Rasvan Cernat, Constantin Petrovici, Vlad Conta, Tiberiu Soare, Ciprian Teodorascu, Florin Totan and with great stage directors like Rares Zaharia, Stefan Neagrau, Ionel Pantea.
In the recent years she has been invited to sing in concerts and festivals in Italy, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Maroc, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, and together with Maestro Gheorghe Zamfir she has performed in the United States of America ( New York - CARNEGIE HALL and Chicago ) and in Israel (Tel Aviv, Jerusalim and Haifa ).
She had the honour to perform in concerts on the same stage or productions with great artists such as Giuseppe Giacomini ( in a performance of La Boheme by G.Puccini ) Kaludi Kaludov ( in concerts ) , Marcello Giordani ( in concerts ) , Eduard Tumagian ( in performances of Rigoletto by G.Verdi and vocal-symphonic concerts ), Vittorio Grigolo ( in performances of I Capuleti e i Montecchi by V.Bellini ) Ionel Pantea and Thomas Mohr in vocal-symphonic concerts , Georg Tichy ( in performances of Rigoletto by G.Verdi ) .
In the autumm of 2008 she performed in a gala-concert at Salle FLAGEY from Bruxelles and in December 2008, she was invited to sing in a ” Christmas Concert ” with the famous italian tenor MARCELLO GIORDANI, after having won one of the 3 scholarships offered by Marcello Giordani after his Master Class in December 2008.
In May 2009 she made her debut in the Premiera of ” Don Pasquale ” by G.Donizetti, in a modern and successful staging achieved by director Rares Zaharia, at the National Opera in Bucharest, in the role of Norina.
In July and August 2009, soprano Irina Iordachescu has performed in the role of Gilda on the stage of the Sankt Margarethen Opernfestspiele 2009 - Austria, in 10 performances of the new ” RIGOLETTO” production , in the wonderful classic staging of the italian director Renzo Giacchieri.
In October 2009 she was invited to sing the role of Gilda from “Rigoletto” by G. Verdi at PLOVDIV Opera Theater in Bulgaria.
In 2009 she received the VIP AWARD for ” THE BEST OPERA SINGER OF THE YEAR IN ROMANIA “.
In 2010, she sings in Bulgaria, for the ” March Music Festival “, on the stage of RUSSE OPERA Theater, in the “Ninth Symphony” by Ludwig van Beethoven .
Most of the roles made in 2009 and 2010, were studied and prepared with the bulgarian tenor, Boiko Svetanov, from Zurich Opera Theater.
In April 2010, on the stage of SOFIA OPERA Theater, she made her debut in the role of Liu from ” TURANDOT ” by G. Puccini.
In June 2010, she made her debut in Liu’s part from ” TURANDOT ” by G.Puccini, this time on the stage of the National Opera in Bucharest.
In July 2010, she has performed in a Gala Concert in Catania ( ITALIA ) with the famous italian tenor, MARCELLO GIORDANI and the Orchestra dell’ E.A.R Teatro Massimo ” V.Bellini ” in Catania, conducted by Maestro Marco Boemi.
In October 2010, she has made her debut in the role of Violetta Valery from ” La Traviata ” by G.Verdi, on the stage of the National Opera in Bucharest and in June, 2011 she sang the same role on the stage of Varna Opera Theater.
On the 1st and 2nd of July, 2011, she sang the G.Verdi’s ” Requiem ” with the ” George Enescu” Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, at the Romanian Atheneum, with Maestro Christian Badea conducting.
In February, 2012, she will have a recital ( with arias and lieds ) in the Teatro alla Scala’s Foyer .
In June and July 2012, she has been invited to sing the role of Musetta, in all the performances of the new production of “LA BOHEME” by G.Puccini , in the ” GLYNDEBOURNE FESTIVAL ” - UNITED KINGDOM and in the “BBC Henry Wood Promenade” performance at The Royal Albert Hall - London, with the same production.
