Melissa Zapin arrives at the Fresno Opera House fresh off her solo Carnegie Hall debut in Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Consessore. Her recent roles include The Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and covering Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello with the Vero Beach Opera. She kicked off her year with a private operatic concert for Donald Trump and his guests at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. In October Melissa will be singing the role of Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the Satori Opera.
She won the New York City round for the prestigious Hungarian Mezzo Arts Festival Competition and traveled to Europe, where she was honored as a finalist in the worldwide competition and performed at the Vienna Mozart Festival.
Her extraordinary voice has garnered her honors around the world. Melissa was crowned Miss Hawaii, winning the talent competition at the Miss America pageant. She was the first place winner of the National Society of Arts and Letters’ Opera Competition in Honolulu and was a regular guest soloist with the Hawaii Opera Theater. She received accolades for her award-winning performances in the lead roles of Christine in Maury Yeston’s Phantom and the title role in Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
In addition to a blooming opera career, Zapin has enjoyed an active and diverse career as an in-demand voiceover artist and actress, appearing in and originating roles Off-Broadway and on television in hit shows such as Sex in the City.
