Nina Warren is an internationally acclaimed artist, who has appeared in the most demanding interpretative dramatic parts on the stages of important theaters throughout the world. She has performed the title role in Salome with the Staatstheater Stuttgart, Baltimore Opera, Seattle Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Opera Pacific, as well as Dresden, Berlin, Frankfurt, Trieste, Antwerp, Ghent, Utah and Arizona and in concert with the Kölner Rundfunk Orchester, Bochum Symphony, Junge Deutsche Orchester with Lothar Zagrosek and at Indiana University with Julius Rudel.
Other notable roles and theaters include Brünnhilde in Die Walküre with the Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires, Minnie in La Fanciulla del West with Los Angeles Opera and Essen Opera, the title role in Turandot with Los Angeles Opera, New York City Opera and the Sinaloa Festival of Arts in Mexico, Lavinia in Mourning Becomes Elektra with Seattle Opera, Schoenberg’s Erwartung with the Canadian Opera, Leonore in Fidelio in Nice, Bonn, Essen, Wheeling Symphony, and Connecticut Grand Opera, the title role of Tosca at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago, Chile as well as with New York City Opera, Chrysothemis in Elektra for the Baltimore Opera, Gunter Kramer’s production of Die Tote Stadt in Koeln and Spoleto, Italy , Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer for Palm Beach Opera and Frankfurt, Emilia Marty in The Makropolous Case in Koeln, and Kostelnicka in Jenufa in Essen and Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Ms. Warren began her career in New York, where she appeared at the Metropolitan Opera as Gerhilde in Die Walküre under the baton of James Levine, and at the New York City Opera as Tosca, Lucy in The Dreyfuss Affair and as Musetta in La Boheme, the world premiere of Tan Dun’s Marco Polo in Munich, Hong Kong and Amsterdam (which was recorded for Sony Classics), and her debut with Hamburg opera in the world premiere of Zemlinsky’s Konig Kandaules, which was televised and recorded for the Capriccio label.
Notable appearances on the concert stage include in a televised concert of Salome and Alban Berg Lieder with the Kölner Rundfunk Symphonie Orchester under the baton of Hans Vonk, and Zemlinsky’s “Lyric” Symphony with The Royal Flemish Orchestra.
In recent seasons, she appeared in new productions of Turandot and Jonnie Spielt Auf with Köln Opera. made her debut at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre and also appeared there as Turandot and as Nyssia in König Kandaules, and her debut with the San Diego Opera as Marie in Wozzeck.
A graduate in dance and theatre arts from Brigham Young University, Nina studied voice at Manhattan School of Music and the Opera Center at the Juilliard School. A native of southern California, she currently maintains residences near San Diego and in Germany with her husband and three children.
