New York tenor, Brian Jagde, is an Adler fellow at the San Francisco Opera in the 2009-2010 season. Also in the 2009-2010 season, he sang the title role of WERTHER in Poznan, Poland and MACDUFF in Macbeth. Brian was recently awarded a grant from the prestigious Singer’s Development Foundation.
In the 2008-2009 season, Brian was accepted into the prestigious Merola program. During this time, Brian sang the role of RODOLFO, both at Merola and with the Syracuse Opera Company.
As a former baritone, Brian performed many roles. Most recently the leading role of Danilo in Opera New Jersey’s production of The Merry Widow.
Mr. Jagde’s other roles have included: Zaretsky in Virginia Opera’s production of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin in addition to covering the title role. Hermann and Schlémil in their production of Les contes d’Hoffmann by Offenbach, while covering the roles of Luther and Crespel. He has performed the role of Dancaïro in Bizet’s Carmen with Chautauqua Opera as a Principal Young Artist while covering Belcore in L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti and Albert in Massenet’s Werther. In addition he has performed, Dr. Falke in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus with Opera Company of the Highlands, Hermann in Les contes d’Hoffmann by Offenbach with Des Moines Metro Opera where he was a Young Artist in the summer of 2005, and Guglielmo in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte with Des Moines Metro Opera’s outreach program; Opera Iowa.
Brian’s training includes Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Voice and Opera Studies from The Purchase College-Conservatory of Music. There he performed many leading roles including The Count in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen, Der Vater in Hänsel und Gretel by Humperdinck, Danilo in Lehár’s The Merry Widow, and Masetto in Don Giovanni by Mozart.
